Having a lifestyle blog what does that even mean? It means I have a lifestyle that I love and am passionate about. Someone somewhere shares my same interests and I want to speak to them. My fire is lit by travel, running and learning. I love learning about where the next best place is to travel, the cheapest deals, and finding new adventures. I am an average runner but running has completely changed my life and I have so much experience and knowledge that I want to share with people in the same fitness position as me. Learning is a daily activity for me. Whether it is my podcasts or perusing articles online every single day I want to learn something that I never knew before.
My ever ranging interests can be exhausting and sometimes I don’t know what to focus on but everyday there are things I do that keep the spark alive.
Travel
Read an article about another country everyday. I use Outside Magazine, AFAR, Runner’s World and a few other sources to ensure I get a bit of travel in my day. I also follow Skyscanner, Airfarewatchdog and Contiki to send me deals on the latest travel. My Safari background is the “Momentum” theme, which posts a new picture of a different place in the world everyday. These things on a daily basis keep travel in my mind.
Running
It is not very difficult for me to keep the running passion alive everyday. The second I see someone out running I feel the urge to lace up my shoes and join them. Some day’s, though, I admit it is harder to get out and run, on those days all I need is a motivational video or picture. The videos that I regularly watch to get me pumped up to run are Best Running Motivation, Why Do We Fall, and They Will Laugh At You. On Instagram I follow a lot of top runners and just once glance at their images sends me flying out the door to run. If you want to see who I follow check me out at @runninginplaces
Knowledge
The best habit I have for learning every single day is to have a far drive to work. I’m not kidding. Without my hour-long commute I do not know where I would fit in all the podcasts that I listen to. The past year has flooded my mind with so much knowledge I do not know what to do with it all. Where do I apply the greatness of Tony Robbins, Laird Hamilton or Arnold Schwarzenegger? The podcasts that I listen to on a daily basis are The Tim Ferriss Show (my virtual mentor as I call him), Freakanomics, Radio Lab, Don’t Keep Your Day Job, and the Outside Podcast. I’m consistently reading 2 or 3 books at a time all covering different subjects to keep my brain interested (you can see what I am reading in the "books" section of my website) . I know that this is a lot to take in but start with something small, pick one podcast. Find the time in your life when you can focus on learning something new and use the tools (books or podcasts) that fit best into your lifestyle.
Give yourself the resources everyday that remind you or your passions without you having to add another thing to you to do list. Subscribe to people the inspire you, follow certain topics on social platforms, have a passions folder set up on your computer, and create your lifestyle.
