Slowing Down

I really need to slow down. I think we all need to. Yes, life is short but also we have more time than we realize to try all the things we want. I strongly believe in travel and it means more to me than I see it means to people around me, but I so think that a year off to travel, discover, think would do everyone a world of good. A chance to slow down, a chance to think, a chance to not be on system overload all day long.
I have been taking note recently of things I do that are ruining my ability to find the good things, to stay focused on what my goals are, pulling me away from being connected with the people around me, keeping me from accomplishing the things that I want to accomplish, and wasting unnecessary time.
I constantly have multiple tabs open ( I don't mean 3, I mean like 10)
I set 15 goals at once and try to get them all done at the same time
I add new apps that should fix my fitness, my organizing, etc
I cannot delete any "social" accounts because what would happen to the world if I weren't connected at all times
Even writing this post I started writing in bullet points
Slowing down allows us to reconnect with our goals, our life plan, the people around us, and refocus our path. I am making the vow to myself to find what matters most. To remove all the unnecessary and find what is true.
This means taking the time everyday to be mindful of what is most important that day and what in that day will have lasting benefits, not getting distracted by "shiny things", not overloading my mind with day to day things, picking what my focus is, and checking in with myself.
“If people just took it a day at a time, they'd be a lot happier.” ― Richard Bachman
"Always remember to slow down in life; live, breathe, and learn; take a look around you whenever you have time and never forget everything and every person that has the least place within your heart."
